This picture is from 1980 from our family collection. It shows the first art gallery in Shanghai after the Cultural Revolution.
My father was the manager , I grew up in there. In the gallery I met numerous famous artists, specializing in a wide variety of subjects (oil paintings, chinese ink, sculptures, Western art, traditional Chinese art, and so on), and who contributed to my development as an artist. The gallery is located in the most famous shopping street Avenue Joffre (霞飞路) inside the French concession.

Later, in Singapore, I also worked in an art gallery. This stopped when we moved to Europe in 2002, but now, 10 years later, we will open our own gallery in the Hanseatic medieval town of Kampen (NL), with the same Chinese name 上海画廊 as my father's first gallery.
